Insider Strategy: What Really Lowers the Price
After analyzing thousands of bookings, we've identified the ultimate money-saving combination:
- Look early for Low Price contingents: they are limited per departure and online only – but prices follow the occupancy of each departure, not how far ahead you book: in our Aug 2026 samples, 81 days ahead cost €48 while 47 days ahead cost €65.70.
- Compare several travel dates: the same car crossing cost between €48 and €83 (Low Price) depending on the date in our samples – the booking calendar shows it at a glance.
- Vehicles over 6 m pay a length surcharge: the exact amount shows in the booking system – a published night-time waiver does not exist.
- The €15 online booking discount is automatic: Terminal prices include mandatory handling fee. Booking via app/website eliminates this.

Return tickets: Weekend Ticket and Easy Return
Besides the three one-way fares, Scandlines sells two return packages for Puttgarden–Rødby. The Weekend Ticket costs €93 in the low season, €107 in the shoulder season and €133 in the high season for the round trip (car up to 6 m including up to 9 passengers). You travel out on a Friday and back on the following Sunday and may use any departure with space on both days. It is a fixed price with no occupancy surcharge and is sold online only (scandlines.de or the app); the direction follows the booking currency, so a booking in euros starts in Puttgarden and one in Danish or Swedish kronor starts in Rødby.
Easy Return costs €174, €187 or €227 for the round trip depending on the season. The outbound leg runs on a fixed departure between 1 September and 20 December 2026; the return is open and valid on any ferry with space up to and including 30 December 2026. The price follows the season of the outbound day, and the ticket can be booked online or through customer service (a handling fee from €15 applies there). It is not offered in the summer season.
There is no advance-booking deadline and no percentage early-booking discount. The Early Booker price is simply the cheapest price level of the Standard ticket, bookable online up to 3 days before departure while the limited contingent lasts.

Vehicle Length Surcharges
Vehicles over 6 metres pay a length surcharge. Scandlines does not publish a fixed table – the exact amount for your length appears in the booking system before you pay.
Enter the total length including tow bar, bike rack and trailer. A wrong length is re-charged at check-in.
